•    I chose konnyaku as the Japanese product I would like to promote around the world.  As you know, konnyaku is found in many soup dishes in Japanese cuisine.  But do you know how it is made?  It comes from a special potato called devilʼs tongue in English.  It is made into powder, and then the powder is made into jelly-like food.  Gunma is famous for konnyaku, but it is eaten all over Japan, as well as in China and Korea.  Konnyaku is said to be healthy because it is 98 percent water.  So, we can eat a lot without many calories.
  •    Sweets such as konnyaku jelly have been popular for a while, but have you heard of the new recipes being made from konnyaku?  Many dishes are being made from konnyaku in noodle form, such as udon and ramen.  But also, there is konnyaku in the shape of rice, colorful pearl shaped konnyaku to put in salads, konnyaku hamburgers and steak, and many kinds of desserts.  Because there are so few calories, we can all enjoy these foods more with konnyaku.  If more people start to eat konnyaku around the world, Iʼm sure there will be many more new konnyaku dishes to enjoy.
